چکیده

Introduction Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) refers to a group of conditions involving joint inflammation that first appears before the age of 16. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is thought to arise from a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Numerous associations between HLA polymorphisms and JIA subtypes have been reported in multiple populations. The HLA region SNP rs7775055 is a part of the HLA-DRB1*0801–HLADQA1*0401–HLA-DQB1*0402 haplotype, which has been shown to increase risk of JIA in UK and non-Hispanic Caucasians US patients. The recent study of Hinks and co-authors also showed the strong evidence of association between rs7775055 and JIA (odds ratio (OR) = 6.01; p=3.14×10) in patients from across the US, UK and Germany.

Protective role of HLA-DRB1*11 against juvenile idiopathic arthritis living in North Eastern Iran

Objective(s): Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is one of the most common chronic rheumatic diseases in children. The complex nature of this immune-mediated disease owes itself to several predisposing genes and environmental factors affecting its pathogenesis. Conducted in Iran, this study was originally intended to investigate every possible association between HLA DRB1 alleles and a suscept...

Significant Associations of the rs3104413 Single-nucleotide Polymorphism in the HLA Region with Type 1 Diabetes

Background and Aims: In this study, the effect of rs310441 polymorphism in the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) region on the development of susceptibility or resistance to Type 1 diabetes (T1D) among the people with T1D compared to healthy subjects has been investigated. Materials and Methods: This research, which is based on the examination of 130 cases with T1D and 98 controls, has been carrie...

HLA Class I Gene Polymorphism in Iranian Patients with Papillon-Lefevre Syndrome

Background: Papillon-Lefevre Syndrome (PLS) is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by diffused palmoplantar keratoderma and severe periodontitis. Increased susceptibility to infections due to impairment of the immune system is considered to be involved in pathoetiology of this disease. Objective: According to the crucial function of HLA molecules in immune responses and associati...

Association between Hepatitis B Virus Infection Outcome and HLA-A and DRB1 Genotyping in North Part of Iran

Background and Objective: The outcome of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection may be influenced by host factors like Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA). We have investigated HLA-A and DRB1 alleles in patients with persistent hepatitis B infection compared to subjects who had spontaneously recovered from HBV infection. To complete the findings of this study we performed another survey in certain HLA ...

Combination of Myelin Basic Protein Gene Polymorphisms with HLA-DRB1*1501 in Iranian Patients with Multiple Sclerosis

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS), as a multifactorial autoimmune disease with complex genetic basis, causes demyelination in the central nervous system via cytokine responses to myelin antigens. Myelin basic protein (MBP) is the main protein component of the myelin sheath. HLA-DRB (human leukocyte antigen-DR beta) alleles, particularly HLA-DRB1*1501, may be of significance in the pathogenesi...
